What is Google My Business?

You’ve most likely searched for ‘places to eat near me’ on Google to check what is locally available and got in return a list of places. Those places that show up on the list are there because they have a Google My Business (GMB) profile.
GMB is a free Google platform where you can display your company information and details including address and opening hours on Google Maps and local search results.
It’s easy to set up and very user friendly so if you don’t already have one, or you have just started your financial business, we highly recommend sorting that out.
On your GMB you can do more than just share your business details, you can: add photos, reply to Google reviews and post updates about your service, any offers and events.

Why use GMB:
-
It’s doesn’t cost
When you set up or use your GMB, it doesn’t cost you a penny. It’s a free platform you can use to gain new leads.
-
You’re in charge
The information displayed on your GMB is up to you – the opening hours, the address and telephone number.
-
Manage your online reputation
You can see and reply to your Google reviews with your GMB. Replying to reviews is highly recommended, to both positive and negative ones, you’ll show your audience who you are and how you handle any negativity.
-
Increase your brand awareness
Build up brand awareness by posting on your GMB. Those posts will help your local audience learn about you as a brand.
-
More potential customers
By having a GMB profile you increase the chance of your business showing up in the list of local searches, increasing your local SEO visibility.
-
Promote your business
Posting on GMB is free and can easily be included in your social media schedule. If you use a scheduling tool, a lot of the platforms allow you to connect your profile, making it even easier to post across all platforms at once.
It’s important that you keep your business details on your GMB up to date and optimise the platform to get the most out of it. Just like when you Google search a restaurant to know opening times, your customers could be doing the exact same thing for your business.
When you post on GMB you can choose a CTA, this can help drive traffic to your website or will be very helpful in giving your audience direction.
